Overview

Winixx Inc. ("Winixx") warrants that all fleetOS Link hardware devices — in both consumer and commercial configurations — are free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service conditions for a period of five (5) years from the date of first activation ("Warranty Period"). This warranty is provided directly by Winixx Inc. to the original purchaser or subscriber and is non-transferable.

Five-Year Commitment
A five-year hardware warranty reflects our confidence in the quality and durability of the fleetOS Link. We build hardware designed to last the full warranty period — and we stand behind it. If a covered defect occurs at any point during the five years, we replace the unit.

This warranty applies to the fleetOS Link hardware only. It does not cover software, firmware, the fleetOS platform, subscription services, or third-party components or accessories not manufactured by or for Winixx. Software and platform service levels are governed separately by the Terms and Conditions.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights that vary by state. Some states do not allow limitations on implied warranties or exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so some of the limitations below may not apply to you.

03

What Is Covered

This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship in the fleetOS Link hardware under normal use conditions. A defect in materials or workmanship means a failure of the hardware to perform its designed function due to a fault in how it was manufactured or in the materials used, not due to external damage, misuse, or normal wear.

04

What Is Not Covered

The following situations and conditions are expressly excluded from warranty coverage. Claims arising from these circumstances will be declined and, where a replacement unit has been provided in error, Winixx reserves the right to recover the replacement cost.

Physical Damage & Mishandling

Damage resulting from dropping, crushing, puncturing, bending, or otherwise physically mishandling the device is not covered. This includes damage sustained during installation if the installation was performed incorrectly or by an unqualified person for the commercial hardware system.

Unauthorized Modification

Any modification to the hardware, firmware, or software not performed or authorized by Winixx automatically voids the warranty for the affected device. This includes attempts to open the device housing, modify internal components, flash unauthorized firmware, or physically alter any part of the device.

Electrical Damage

While the fleetOS Link includes surge protection designed to handle standard automotive electrical events, damage caused by severe electrical system failures, improper vehicle wiring, or connection to non-standard power sources is not covered. Damage resulting from jump-starting the vehicle with a failed or incorrectly connected battery is not covered if it exceeds the device's rated surge protection specification.

Environmental Damage Beyond Ratings

Damage from water ingress beyond the device's IP rating, sustained exposure to temperatures outside the operating range of -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C), or exposure to corrosive chemicals or environments is not covered. The consumer OBD-II device is rated IP54 and is not designed for direct water immersion.

Loss, Theft & Intentional Damage

Loss or theft of the device, and damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, is not covered under this warranty. For commercial hardware owned by Winixx and deployed under a fleet subscription, loss or theft of a hardware unit is the financial responsibility of the Fleet Operator as described in the Terms and Conditions.

Normal Wear

Gradual performance changes that fall within acceptable specification tolerances over the warranty period — such as minor cosmetic wear, slight reduction in LED brightness, or small increases in boot time — are considered normal wear and do not constitute a covered defect. Battery capacity degradation is covered separately under Section 7.

05

Consumer Hardware Warranty

This section applies specifically to the fleetOS Link consumer device — the OBD-II plug-in telematics device purchased outright by consumer members for use in personal passenger vehicles.

Warranty Activation

The consumer warranty activates on the date the device is first registered and activated through the fleetOS app — not the date of purchase. Devices purchased through an auto dealer or insurance carrier partner are activated at the time the consumer member completes the device setup through the fleetOS app. Unactivated devices carry a shelf warranty of twenty-four (24) months from the date of manufacture.

Warranty Period

The consumer hardware warranty runs for five (5) years from the date of first activation. The warranty remains valid regardless of whether the consumer member maintains an active fleetOS membership subscription during the warranty period. A lapsed membership does not void the hardware warranty — however, warranty replacement devices require an active membership to function.

Transferability

The consumer hardware warranty is non-transferable. If the original purchasing consumer member sells, gifts, or otherwise transfers the device to another person, the warranty does not transfer with the device. The new owner may use the device subject to creating their own fleetOS account, but warranty coverage applies only to the original purchaser.

Replacement Hardware

Approved warranty claims for consumer hardware result in shipment of a replacement device to the consumer member's registered address at no cost. Replacement devices may be new or factory-refurbished units of equivalent specification. The warranty on a replacement device runs for the remainder of the original warranty period or ninety (90) days from the date of replacement shipment, whichever is longer.

Return of Defective Device

Winixx may require the consumer member to return the defective device before or after the replacement is shipped, at Winixx's discretion. A prepaid return shipping label will be provided for all consumer warranty returns. Failure to return a defective device when requested may result in a charge equal to the replacement unit cost.

06

Commercial Hardware Warranty

This section applies to the fleetOS Link commercial hardware system — including the Central Telematics Unit and all camera components — deployed to fleet operators as part of the fleetOS Commercial subscription.

Ownership & Warranty Relationship

Commercial hardware remains the property of Winixx Inc. at all times. The warranty obligation runs from Winixx to Winixx — meaning Winixx warrants the hardware it owns and deploys to fleet operators, and repairs or replaces it at its own cost when a covered defect occurs. Fleet Operators bear no replacement cost for covered warranty failures.

Warranty Activation

The commercial hardware warranty activates on the date the complete hardware system is activated on a specific vehicle through the fleetOS platform — confirmed by successful first connection of all hardware components to the platform. Each vehicle's hardware carries its own independent warranty start date.

Component-Level Coverage

Each component of the commercial hardware system is covered independently. A failure in one camera does not void or affect the warranty on other components. Winixx will replace only the failed component rather than the entire system where the failure is isolated to a single unit.

Fleet Operator Responsibilities

While Winixx covers manufacturing defects, Fleet Operators are responsible for the following conditions that may void or limit warranty coverage for specific units:

  • Physical damage to hardware caused by driver behavior, vehicle accidents, or improper operation
  • Damage caused by unauthorized modification, tampering, or removal by fleet personnel
  • Loss or theft of any hardware unit deployed to their fleet — fleet operators are liable for the replacement cost of lost or stolen commercial hardware at two hundred dollars ($200.00) per unit
  • Damage caused by failure to follow Winixx's installation guidelines and operating procedures
Subscription Dependency

Commercial hardware warranty coverage is contingent on the fleet operator maintaining an active fleetOS Commercial subscription. If a subscription is terminated — whether by the fleet operator or by Winixx for cause — the warranty obligation terminates for that fleet's hardware on the effective date of subscription termination. Hardware must be returned to Winixx within thirty (30) days of subscription termination in accordance with the Terms and Conditions.

07

Battery Warranty

Both the consumer and commercial fleetOS Link devices contain an internal lithium polymer backup battery that provides emergency power in the event of vehicle electrical system failure. Battery performance naturally degrades over time and with charge cycles. This section defines the specific warranty terms for battery coverage.

Battery Coverage Threshold
The internal backup battery is covered by warranty against degradation below seventy percent (70%) of its original rated capacity during the five-year warranty period. If the battery degrades below this threshold under normal use conditions, Winixx will replace the device at no cost under the standard replacement process.
What Constitutes a Battery Defect
  • Battery capacity falling below 70% of rated specification within the warranty period under normal use conditions
  • Battery failing to hold any charge within the warranty period
  • Battery swelling, leaking, or causing physical damage to the device housing
  • Battery failing to provide the minimum thirty (30) minutes of emergency backup power specified in the hardware specification
What Is Not a Battery Defect
  • Battery capacity between 70% and 100% of original rated capacity — this is normal degradation within the covered threshold
  • Battery damage caused by operating the device outside the stated temperature range
  • Battery damage caused by physical impact or unauthorized modification
  • Battery degradation in a device that has not been maintained with periodic connection to vehicle power — extended periods of complete discharge accelerate degradation and are the owner's responsibility
How Battery Capacity Is Measured

Battery health is monitored continuously by the device firmware and reported to the fleetOS platform. When battery capacity falls below the 70% threshold, the platform will generate an automatic warranty alert and prompt the user to initiate a warranty claim. Users may also manually check battery health through the device status section of the fleetOS app at any time.

08

How to Make a Claim

Warranty claims must be submitted through one of the following channels. Claims submitted through unauthorized channels will not be processed.

Claim Submission Channels
  • In-App: Navigate to Settings → Device → Warranty Claim in the fleetOS app. This is the fastest method — the app pre-populates device information automatically.
  • Email: Send a claim request to support@fleetos.winixx.net with "Warranty Claim" in the subject line. Include your account email, device serial number, and a description of the defect.
  • Fleet Dashboard: Fleet operators may submit warranty claims for commercial hardware through the Equipment section of the fleetOS fleet dashboard.
Information Required for a Claim
  • Account email address and registered name
  • Device serial number (printed on the device and available in the app under Device Information)
  • Date of first activation (available in app)
  • Description of the defect — what is the device failing to do, and when did the failure begin
  • Photos or video of the defect where applicable
  • For commercial hardware: vehicle VIN and fleet operator account identifier
Claim Evaluation

Winixx evaluates all warranty claims within five (5) business days of receipt. Where the defect can be diagnosed remotely through platform telemetry data, no physical inspection is required and the claim may be approved based on data review alone. Where remote diagnosis is inconclusive, Winixx may request that the device be returned for physical inspection before a determination is made.

Claim Deadline
Warranty claims must be submitted before the expiration of the five-year warranty period. Claims submitted after warranty expiration will not be honored regardless of when the defect first appeared. If a defect becomes apparent near the end of the warranty period, submit the claim immediately — do not wait.
09

Replacement Process

Upon approval of a warranty claim, Winixx will provide a replacement device or component. The replacement process is designed to minimize disruption to the user's vehicle monitoring and roadside assistance coverage.

1
Claim Approved
Winixx notifies the claimant by email and through the fleetOS app that the claim has been approved. The notification includes the expected shipment date and tracking information once available.
2
Replacement Shipped Within 10 Business Days
The replacement unit is shipped within ten (10) business days of claim approval to the claimant's registered address. Expedited shipping is available upon request at the claimant's cost where standard shipping timeline is insufficient.
3
Return of Defective Unit
A prepaid return shipping label is included with the replacement shipment or sent separately by email. The defective unit must be returned within thirty (30) days of receiving the replacement. Failure to return the defective unit may result in a charge equal to the replacement unit cost.
4
Replacement Activation
The replacement device is pre-configured with the claimant's account credentials. For consumer devices, the replacement activates automatically when plugged in and connected to the fleetOS app. For commercial hardware, a Winixx-authorized technician or the fleet operator's installation team performs installation and activation.
5
Warranty Continuation
The replacement device warranty runs for the longer of: the remainder of the original five-year warranty period, or ninety (90) days from the date of replacement shipment. The replacement does not reset or extend the original warranty beyond this provision.
Replacement Unit Specification

Replacement units will be of equivalent or superior specification to the original unit. Where the exact original model is no longer available, Winixx will provide a current-generation equivalent unit with full warranty coverage. Winixx does not provide cash refunds in lieu of warranty replacement except as required by applicable state consumer protection law.

10

Warranty Void Conditions

The following actions will void the warranty on the affected device. A voided warranty means the device is no longer eligible for warranty replacement — even if the defect would otherwise be covered.

Actions That Void This Warranty
Opening the device housing — removing Winixx or fleetOS branding or regulatory markings — flashing unauthorized firmware — attempting to physically modify internal components — connecting the device to a power source outside its rated voltage range — using the device in a vehicle or application it was not designed for.

Winixx uses remote telemetry data and physical inspection to evaluate void conditions. Tamper detection events logged by the device are considered evidence in warranty void determinations. Attempts to circumvent tamper detection or falsify warranty claims may result in removal from the fleetOS network and legal action.
